Policies and
Possibilities: Compilation of Good Practices

Each
village is a bundle of stories. Each person could add a new
dimension to the watershed experiences. While conducting the
field work, study teams gathered some interesting stories,
anecdotes and experiences. They establish the possibility of
an idea, an approach, and a new way of looking at the same old
project. This volume consists of all such interesting
experiences from several watersheds. These stories try to fill
the gaps in the process analysis of previous chapters. This
volume adds life to the entire set by bringing human dimension
to the watershed projects and its processes. Initial idea was
to integrate these experiences in to the previous volumes
itself. But this gives very little space for narrating the
basic idea and does not justify the inclusion in other
volumes. This volume is a bunch of flowers, exhibiting the color of watershed
processes and their successes. There are also few thorns,
which indicate the future challenges. Each story is an
independent experience and allows the reader to start
anywhere. However, it is important to note that the main
purpose of these stories is to briefly narrate the possibility
and establish the evidence of the experience. The stories do
not give an exhaustive picture or a 'complete' picture of the
experience. This feature of this volume could be interpreted
as both strength as well as weakness of the volume.
