 Field testing Village Level Processes

Piloting of Andhra Pradesh Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (APREGS) 2005 In Parigi mandal, Ranga Reddy district

Following the enactment of the NREG Act, the Government of Andhra Pradesh is planning to launch the APREG Scheme by February 2006. Before launching the scheme, it is proposed to conduct a pilot of the scheme. The area selected for the field test by piloting is Parigi mandal of Ranga Reddy district.

The process of testing is being done in the entire mandal that consists of 22 grama panchayats covering 54 villages and hamlets in all. The pilot is being anchored by WASSAN from the Cluster Level Livelihoods Resource Centre, Parigi in association with District Water Management Agency, Ranga Reddy District.

The pilot project mainly comprises of awareness building, orientation and testing of processes and formats in the filed to find out the usability and lapses of the process and guidelines of the scheme. This includes several stages like awareness building in the stake holders of the programme to organizing gram sabhas to involving in the planning of the shelf of works to making the payments under the scheme. Along with this, various formats developed to perform different stages of the scheme are also being tested.
