Action Study Project
Supported by AEI, Luxembourg

WASSAN initated this project  (1998 -2002) as part of  a tripartite agreement between Commissioner, Rural Development, Government of Andhra Pradesh,   Andhra Pradesh Academy of Rural Development (APARD) and Centre for World Solidarity (CWS)- WASSAN partnership with three field level organizations;  Vikasam, REEDS and Serene Services in Ranga Reddy  district.

The objective was to experiment and innovate different process related initiatives in five watershed development Projects under the Drought Prone Area development Program (DPAP) in Ranga Reddy district

Action Study Project laid down the foundation for WASSAN. Several processes in community organization, user group based participatory planning and implementation were tried in some watersheds as part of this project. Many of the learnings have provided the basis for various policy level initiatives.

The experiences and processes were documented and published as ‘Stepping stones in watershed processes -WASSAN Action Study Project’.

The partnership with one of the watersheds  in the action study area - Nazeerabad still continues as part of Cluster level Livelihoods Resource Centre at Parigi.
