NPM

Melas


CLUSTER MELAS:

 

Cluster level melas were organized in all the red gram areas by Samakhyas. It served as a platform to share and know experiences of different villages and plan for next seasons programme. NPM farmers, NPM drop out farmers, Non-NPM farmers, Sarpanchas, MPTCs, local RMP doctors and members of  VO and MMS participated in these events.  A prescriptive schedule was designed for the day and followed on the day of  mela. The schedule is as below:

  • Prayer

  • Explaining reasons for Samakhya taking up NPM program

  • Sharing the strategies adopted

  • Sharing the experiences of NPM farmers

  • Interactive session with NPM farmers, Drop outs and Non-NPM farmers

  • Sharing between Village Activists and CRPs

  • Discussing the strategies to involve more people

  • Sharing bitter effects of pesticides on human beings and livestock

  • Explaining NPM Wheel (drawn on ground)

 

DISTRICT MELA:

 

District level mela was organized in Mahabubnagar district by the district collector to wipe of the notion among the farmers that NPM could be practiced only on Red gram. This builds solidarity among the farmers taking up various other crops and brings them together. District Collector, CEO-SERP, Project Director DRDA, Joint Director of Agriculture and other district officials, representatives from Research stations and Commissioner of agriculture and WASSAN team along with 350 farmers participated in this event. Farmers shared their experiences and demanded NPM to be taken up on other crops as well.
