Neem Crushers / NP Virus Units

Neem Crushers

Preparation of neen spray is infact a cumbursome and complex process as it involves some labour. Farmers felt a little bit  drudgery in this process. To address this problem  neem crushers were introduced. This initiative not only reduced the drudgery but also motivated the farmers to take up the NPM. These neem cruhsers were given to individual entrepreneur  thus providing  supplemental livelihood options.

total of 12 Neem pulverizes were purchased for the four program mandals. All these machines are installed except the one with Kodangal MMS. These pulverizes though had some initial hiccups, operated successfully later on.  However, the operational systems need to be further streamlined to convert them into sustainable enterprises.

NPVirus (NPV) Units

Kosgi and Daulatabad MMS were selected for establishing NPV units in collaboration with ICRISAT. MMS women were trained at ICRISAT on production of NPVirus liquid. Each woman was given one complete unit of NPV production.

Meanwhile, a linkage with the Bio-Control laboratory is also established for supply of Heliothis worms for NPV production. Some women in Daulatabad are into this enterprise, which is in a nascent stage.
