'Irrigated Dry Crop'. Accordingly this is being widely
promoted by NGOs. Agricultural Universities and some State
Governments. Keeping this in view, a Process Manual for the

Weeders
- A Reference Compendium
(English)
In
SRI method of Paddy Cultivation, weeds are not seen
as a problem, but as an opportunity. As the weeds
are incorporated into the soil by way of mechanical
weeder, it helps build up of soil organic matter and
subsequently large and diverse microbial population
in the soil. Now various weeders are
available for use in SRI. Few innovative
farmers did several experiments for different soil
situations and easy operation accordingly design
changes are made. Some farmers even developed
multi-row weeders. This reference compendium
provides a glimpse of these innovative designs.

Watershed la to Pallela
Pragathi
(Palle Suddulu in Telugu)
Communicating the message of a developmental programme is
very critical for achieving its desired results. It is more
so with the programmes like Watershed where people’s
participation and processes are highly stressed upon. A
message is passed onto the people with various means. And it
is proven that these messages are highly effective when they
are presented in traditional and folk art forms as these are
more identified and close to the people. Palle Suddulu
is one such popular art form in Andhra Pradesh. And here it
was best used to disseminate the watershed message among
the rural people. The same was brought out in a book form
with an intention that it can be useful for all others
involved in spreading the message in such art form.
