Voice from the Ground - Issues in Tank Desiltation under 'Neeru - Meeru'

Constituting the Water Conservation Mission with eminent people from all over the country is an indicator of good governance in Andhra Pradesh. Experienced members of the WCM are providing critical inputs to the water conservation movement in the state. Media is also playing a significant role in creating awareness in the communities. Convergence of various departments in conservation agenda, mission mode approach, certain interventions like tank desiltation has been well received by communities. This initiative of the Government has been appreciated by many. It is important to understand and debate on what is happening to make Neeru-Meeru a people’s movement.
