Raigad (M.S.) which represents the North Konkan Coastal Agro-ecolog= ical Zone, to study the effect of different methods of crop establishment on yie= ld of hybrid rice i.e. Sahyadri in clay loam soil.= The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with four replications a= nd six different methods of crop establishment. The methods used were T1: Stan= dard practice of transplanting (SP- 20x10 cm), T2: System of rice intensification (SRI- 25x25 cm), T3: Integrated crop management (ICM- 20x20 cm), T4: Direct seeding (sprouted seeds) with drum seeder (DS- 20 cm), T5: Farmers’ practice (FP- random transplanting) and T6: Paired row transplanting (PR- 15-25-15-15-25 cm). All growth and yield attributing characters in SRI technique were significantly superior over farmers’ practice and dire= ct seeding with drum seeder. The results indicated that SRI technique produced significantly higher grain yield (8.148 t/ha) over T5, T4 and T1. However, = it was on par with T3 and T6. The highest straw yield (8.758 t/ha) was recorde= d in SRI technique, which was significantly superior over T5 and T4.
