Rice
is an important kharif crop of M.P., the area u=
nder
irrigated rice in the state is about 20% and it is projected that by the
completion of various irrigation projects it will like to increase, in
irrigated area farmers are like to submerge the field for long time that
results in poor aeration as well as water logging situations, SRI seems to =
be
promising not only for enhancing the rice yield but also for water saving a=
nd
minimizing the water loss. In state the sufficient area is under verti-soils where due to non workability of the soil =
SRI as
such practiced in clay-loam soils needs to be modified we are identifying t=
he
areas where the SRI can introduces and try to develop modifying the SRI
technology for the state. Our initial experience of practicing SRI looks
promising and it
looks to be a profitable farming system for the state provided
the refinement made in the
technology for verti-soil.
