Field tria= ls were conducted during Kharif (wet) season of 20= 04 and 2005 at Zonal Agricultural Research Station, Mandya to evaluate SRI method in comparison with different rice establishment meth= ods viz., standard practice of planting as per recommended package of practice = (25 days old 2-3 seedlings transplanted at 20 x 10 cm spacing, 50 seedlings per= sqm), Drum seeder (direct sowing of sprouted seeds at= 22.5 cm apart in rows), Integrated crop management (16 days old seedlings at 20 = x 20 cms apart single seedling per hill). System of rice intensification (10= days old single seedling&nb= sp; per hill @ 16 seedlings per sqm, 25 x 25 cm apart) and farmers practice method (30 days old = 2-3 seedlings/hill by random planting @ 30-35 hills/sqm) for increasing the yield under transplanted situation. Resul= ts revealed that system of rice intensification (SRI) recorded significantly higher grain yield of 14.37% (6.55 t/ha) over standard practice of planting (5.72 t/ha).&n= bsp; Integrated crop management which recorded 6.39 t/ha, could be an alternative method of crop establishment as it has flexibility as compared = to SRI method under transplanted condition.
