Andhra Pradesh has distinction of implementing a large
number of watersheds. And there is lot of
encouragement and space for involvement for
voluntary organizations in implementing the watershed
program. The experiences of Government of Andhra Pradesh and
various voluntary organizations involved with this
project are unique in addressing the critical issues
associated with the program. Processes, steps and
activities laid out in the guidelines make a
significant contribution to the quality implementation
of the program in a cost-effective way apart from
enhancing the capabilities of communities in natural
resources management.
With this critical mandate and enlivening agenda, WASSAN has
been consistently striving to improve the quality of the
program and maximize the benefits to the resource poor based
upon the field level experiences and the capacities of the
communities...
In the process, its foot is always on the ground
and head is on the policy...
