Livestock Action Plans |
LEAD
In tune with the approach and philosophy of watershed
program,
livestock interventions need to be comprehensively
planned with the people dependent / directly concerned
with the problem s of livestock. Participatory micro
plans and Groups’ based interventions are key to such
an approach. It is necessary to address all the range
of problems related to the livestock in the village/
watershed instead of restricting the interventions to
a particular activity like artificial insemination or
Gopal Mitras. It is important to prepare the
community to be aware of the entire range of livestock
issues and address them comprehensively by making
appropriate provisions for fodder, water and health
services within the watershed. This rootedness is the
key to success.
Objective :
To
facilitate development and implementation of
participatory livestock action plans through a
detailed analysis and understanding of the major
livestock production systems of the poor and the
related problems. The specific objectives can be
-
Identification of major livestock production systems
in the selected watersheds
-
Understand the major problems / concerns of different
categories of livestock rearers, including men and
women, with a major emphasis on marginalized livestock
rearing group
-
To
enable livestock rearers to develop micro action plan
to address the problems / constraints identified and
experienced by them.
