WASSAN is functioning as resource organisation Andhra Pradesh Community Managed Natural Farming and Programme Secretariat for Integrated Farming, Odisha Millets Mission, Jharkhand High Impact Mega Watershed and other major development projects. WASSAN is collaborating with large number of NGO partners, think tanks, foreign universities and state government departments. WASSAN is initiating work on Agro biodiversity in Odisha with focus on Agrobiodiversity registers strengthening biodiversity management committees, preparation and documentation of traditional Knowledge, etc.

Research Assistant (Odisha Millets Mission)

Contract Period

About This Project


WASSAN is initiating work on Agro biodiversity Research in Odisha with focus on Documentation, Conservation, Characterization and Purification of millet and pulses landraces.

Key responsibilities of the Job:

  • Exploration and documentation of Indigenous Technical Knowledge (ITK) on landraces of millets, pulses and oil seeds
  • Designing and lay outing the experimental plots of various crops
  • Collection of crop data by utilizing DUS and AICRP on small millets
  • Quality seed production of millets and pulses
  • Assist DPC of WASSAN and Research team on implementation of Research activities at grass root level and data collection

Academic and Professional Requirements:

  • A Bachelor degree in Agriculture, Botany, Life science.
  • Work experiences from ICAR institutes, Agriculture Universities, International and National NGOs on field crop data collection and computation will be preferred.
  • An ability to travel around Odisha and outside of the state.
  • Good written, presentation, documentation, and oral communication skills in Odia English, Hindi, and knowledge of indigenous languages would be considered as an asset.
  • Willing to be flexible with work timings.

Salary offered is in the range of Rs 25,000 – Rs 35,000 per month commensurate to qualification & experience of the candidate.

District Manager (Integrated Farming System)

Job Description:
The District Manager broad duties and responsibilities include:

  • Prepare and guide in the preparation of quarterly plans for the district
  • Provide overall Leadership roadmap for executing of all project activities in the district with help of all thematic experts at State.
  • Analysing and Evaluating all phases of project by managing all stakeholders (district administration, line department, NGOs, technical agencies, banks, etc.) for implementation of funds and timely project expenditure.
  • Monitoring and Mentoring Block staff to ensure effective rollout of project activities.
  • Work in close co-ordination with State and facilitate the rolling out of organizational system (HR, MIS, Admin, Finance, etc.) of the project.
  • Be responsible for regular reporting to State in form of generating MPR’s, QPR’s and other relevant reports, Pro-actively working with various vendors and stakeholders to support State and District teams in organizing review meetings, case studies, report writing, media management, workshops and consultations at district and state, prepare PPTs and spreadsheets for various complex ideas, prepare visual and written interpretations of projects.

Salary offered is in the range of Rs 25,000 – Rs 35,000 per month commensurate to qualification & experience of the candidate.

Project Officer (Fisheries)

Type of Job:
Technical Support, Capacity Building and Planning & Coordination

Reporting to:
Associate Director, Appointed Representative

Period of Contract:
Contract will be for a period of 2 years after the initial probation period of
6 months but can be extended till the project completion.

About This Project:
WASSAN is proving technical support to Government of Odisha on Integrated Farming in Tribal Areas. This advertisement is looking to recruit technical officer fisheries for the project.

Job Description:
The Project Officer will be responsible for

  • Planning, Capacity Building and technical manual development, Coordination with line department, handholding support and monitoring of NGOs and Community resource persons on the following:
    • Fingerling/Yearling production
    • PoP including disease management in fisheries
    • Entrepreneurship through fisheries nursery networks and value addition
    • Setting up fish feed units and bio floc units through entrepreneurs
  • Supporting State Coordinator / Appointed representative in conducting monthly reviews of the programme.
  • Field visits at least 10 days a month.
  • Preparing the reports/briefs/proceedings as per directions of State Coordinator.
  • Documentation of case studies, success stories etc.
  • Coordinate with concerned department officials for scheme convergence to ensure timely implementation.

Desired Candidate Profile:

  • Candidate must have Master’s Degree or Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of experience in Fisheries or any other relevant degree to the job.
  • Experience in Fingerling/Yearling production, PoP including disease management, fisheries value addition, setting up fish feed units and bio floc units, etc will be preferred.
  • Experience in working with Government/NGO/FPOs/CBOs will be an advantage.
  • Be very energetic and must have good self-learning abilities with flexible working hours.
  • Have very good report/case study writing skills in English and Odia,
  • Have good data management and data analysis skills.
  • Be able to speak and write in Odia and English.
  • Have good computer skills in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PPT, Google Spreadsheet etc
  • Have a personal bike/vehicle for commutation.

CTC will be Rs 40000 to Rs 45000 per month. TA/DA will be separate and as per organisation policy
