WASSAN is functioning as resource organisation Andhra Pradesh Community Managed Natural Farming and Programme Secretariat for Integrated Farming, Odisha Millets Mission, Jharkhand High Impact Mega Watershed and other major development projects. WASSAN is collaborating with large number of NGO partners, think tanks, foreign universities and state government departments. WASSAN is initiating work on Agro biodiversity in Odisha with focus on Agrobiodiversity registers strengthening biodiversity management committees, preparation and documentation of traditional Knowledge, etc.

Enabling Natural Farming Transition in Tribal Landscapes of Odisha is a programme initiated by ST SC & MBC Welfare Department. Odisha Tribal Development Society (OTDS) is the nodal agency and Watershed Support Services and Activities Network (WASSAN) is selected as the Programme Management Unit (PMU). The programme aims to transform farming landscapes into natural farming with integrated livestock and other production systems through 13500 Women Self Help Groups.

Thematic Lead (Monitoring & Evaluation)

Job Description:

  • Manage and support the monitoring and evaluation of programmes activities,
  • Coordinate and liaise with research agencies,
  • Communicate learning for internal and external audiences,
  • Manage M&E work plans and budget and ensure relevant log-frame milestones and annual expenditure are achieved,
  • Coordinate annual planning of M&E work and budget in conjunction with project teams,
  • Support DPMUs, NGO staff in their work with programme teams directly as required,
  • Develop M&E & learning components for new programme proposals, including M&E budgets,
  • Support critical thinking and learning processes such as reflection and review processes, ToR development and clarification, use of project planning questions.

Desired Candidate’s Profile

  • Masters level qualification or equivalent experience of at least 5 years in Social Work/ Agriculture/ Rural Management/ Rural Development,
  • Strong skills in designing and facilitating organisational learning processes, feedback loops etc.,
  • Extensive experience in designing and implementing agriculture related M&E activities,
  • Strong experience of managing M&E staff.

Remuneration

Rs.50000-60000 based on experience compensation shall be decided as per the market standard. TA and DA shall be paid extra as per organisation norms.

Thematic Lead (Natural Farming Expert)

Job Description

  • Manage and oversee program implementation, design, and delivery for all natural farming related capacity building activities targeted at CBOs, NGOs, Governmental partners,
  • Support the development of project reports and presentation of relevant data for internal and external audiences, including the collection, preparation and reporting of data for monitoring and evaluation purposes,
  • Liaise across the project team, NGOs, SHGs, CLFs, and with line departments teams in support of the above responsibilities,
  • Engage with multi-stakeholders, including media, research and education institutions, take natural farming agenda across and develop joint initiatives,
  • Develop a deep understanding of the farming practices and related challenges for the respective agro-ecological zones and document the same,
  • Facilitate documentation of farmers’ practices, experiences and evidence generation with the coalition members,
  • Coordinate and organize training- capacity building programmes and workshops at various levels, CBOs, NGOs, Govt. partner.

Desired Candidate’s Profile

  • Sound understanding of Natural Farming/ Organic Farming/ Agroecology,
  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Science/ Climate Sciences with MBA or Master’s Degree in Agriculture Science or Economics, Rural Development or Social Work with good writing and communication skills in English,
  • At least 2 year of post-qualification experience in implementing sustainable or organic agriculture projects,
  • Experience of working with NGOs and Government officials.

Remuneration

District Programme Coordinator

Job Description

  • Coordinate with field NGOs, community-based organisations and Government officials of line departments and district administration in programme districts of Odisha,
  • Support field NGOs on natural farming adoption in production, processing, consumption and marketing,
  • Ensure training management, monitor regularly and provide handholding support,
  • Responsible for daily project management – both organizational and substantive matters – budgeting, planning and general monitoring of the project,
  • Responsible for facilitating monthly review of the program by District Administration and ITDAs,
  • Will be responsible for reporting on project progress vis-à-vis indicators to ITDAs at District Level and PMU at State Level.

Desired Candidate’s Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Science with MBA or master’s degree in Agriculture Science or Economics, Rural Development or Social Work with good writing and communication skills in English,
  • At least 2 year of post-qualification experience in implementing sustainable or organic agriculture projects,
  • Experience of working with NGOs and Government officials,
  • Proficient computer skills in MS Office; knowledge of Gantt charts, indicator preparation, and basic knowledge in budgeting and accounts,
  • Candidates will be stationed in the district and have to travel extensively for field visits and will be travelling inside and outside Odisha as per programme requirements.

Remuneration

Finance Associate

  • Coordinate and manage data for the project at district level,
  • Support district team in the data management (both program and finance),
  • Manage accounts related work of project at district level,
  • Verify the NGOs processes involved in the project,
  • Prepare Monthly Project Report /Quarterly Project Report/Annual Project Reports.

Desired Candidate’s Profile

  • Masters in Commerce/Bachelors in Commerce/ Accounts/ Finance/or equivalent having experience in accounting and finance,
  • At least 3 years of experience in managing accounts for Government programmes,
  • Knowledge of accounting software,
  • Experience of handling audits of projects, preparing balance sheets, so on so forth,
  • Experience in data management for the project,
  • Report writing skills in English and Odia,
  • Computer skills in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PPT, Google Spreadsheet etc,
  • Not have any complaints against him by Government, Civil Society, Community organizations or Private agencies,
  • Experience in similar development programmes will be preferred.

Remuneration

The Project

The Regenerative Landscapes project involves the following major components

  • Ecological and economic baselining of project clusters in each location and implementing thematic initiatives leading to scalable solutions
  • Implementing and upscaling thematic initiatives related to indigenous seed systems
  • Ecosystem support services targeted at post-harvest processing of agri-commodities
  • Integrated market and warehousing solutions for farmers
  • Supporting Bio-Resource Centre enterprises facilitating Natural Farming
  • Mainstreaming millets in local consumption
  • Promoting intensive-integrated 5-layer model of Natural Farming, etc.

Job Description
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  • Anchor the baselining process in his/her respective locations as per the methodology agreed upon.
  • Lead the data collection, documentation and MIS updation work related to the Baselining.
  • Anchor the specific initiatives (2-3 per location) undertaken as part of the Regenerative Landscapes project in his/her respective location.
  • Develop a roadmap for implementation of different thematic initiatives in consultation with the thematic lead and project team.
  • Implement the initiatives as per the agreed design in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager and Thematic Leads on the design and implementation of the initiatives.
  • Work closely with the host partner NGO(s) in their respective location to ground the initiatives.
  • Contribute towards developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and playbooks related to different themes.
  • Synthesize their experience from the initiatives for developing scaling up proposals in their respective regions.

Desired Candidate’s Profile
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  • Post Gradate in Agriculture / Agriculture Engineering / Rural Management / Development Studies / Environmental Studies from reputed institution.
  • Candidate should have Grassroot experience of at least 3 years working in natural resource management / sustainable production systems / rural livelihoods / SHGs- Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) / Natural Farming.
  • Candidate should have good understanding of agri-production systems and rural livelihoods in rainfed/dryland/tribal areas.
  • Candidate should be good at working with multiple stakeholders, have good communication and documentation skills and open to innovation.
  • Candidate should be willing to travel to other locations.
  • Candidate should know the local language (read, write and speak) spoken in the location he/she is applying for.

Compensation
