WASSAN is a network-based organisation focusing on improving the quality of mainstream programs in natural resources management and livelihoods. It engages actively in policy advocacy initiatives at state and national level mainly related to rainfed agriculture. It also provides field level support services to a large number of watershed development and other programs implemented by the civil society in partnership with communities. Currently WASSAN has around 300 employees spread in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha and Jharkhand.

Business Analyst

Farm Engineer – WASSAN Odisha
Type of Job:
Overseeing the establishment of new processing Units along with technical support and guidance to team members working with agri equipment and machineries under the projects anchored by WASSAN in Odisha

About the Project:
WASSAN is partnering with the Government of Odisha to implement programs such as Odisha Millets Mission, Integrated Farming Systems, etc. in 15 districts. Under this project, many post-harvest processing and value addition machineries, protective irrigation structures etc. are established and yet to be established.
Job Description:
The Farm Engineer will have to
1. Ensuring the establishment, overseeing supervision, maintenance of post-harvest processing units under EIMPART project funded by 3ie in Koraput.
2. Preparing proposals, shed and machine layouts, and estimates etc. for different agro-engineering interventions under the EIMPART project for WASSAN in Koraput, Odisha.
3. Designing feedback survey forms for participatory machine development and working on the iterations with support from machine expert in WASSAN. Data analysis and report preparation of the participatory feedback surveys
4. Providing support to district team in liasoning and coordinating with the machine suppliers as and when required for troubleshooting and other allied activities.
5. Developing a cadre of local technicians and building their capacity regularly through trainings, for day to day operation and maintenance of the machineries.
6. Timely Review and monitoring of the local technicians assigned for machineries under the different projects.
7. Coordinate with the district team to periodically assess the performance of the machineries and take corrective measures.
8. Developing and maintaining a standard procedure and relevant IEC materials for general maintenance, troubleshooting of machineries under EIMPART project for WASSAN in Koraput, Odisha.
9. Coordinating with the district team and take up pilots/innovations work in the machineries as well as identify the need for establishing new machineries.
Desired Candidate Profile:
Candidate must possess
1. BE/B.Tech / ITI mechanical / skilled entrepreneur with at least 2 yrs experience in Farm Power and Machinery Engineering/ Processing or Post Harvest Systems Engineering/Farm Structures and Environmental Control Engineering /Other relevant degree.
2. Demonstrable experience in post-harvest processing techniques, farm machinery design and testing/ designing renewable energy technologies/ design of irrigation systems.
3. Demonstrable experience/knowledge in designing new processes, systems and equipment for agricultural products and operations.
4. Demonstrable experience/knowledge in improving the agriculture farm machinery, farm structures, new technologies in the design and manufacture of agricultural products.
5. Experience in community mobilisation with WSHGs/FPOs will be preferred.
6. Should have good writing, MS Office and other domain software skills will be preferred.
7. Experience in liasoning and networking with other engineering institutes shall be preferred.
8. Good reading, speaking and report writing skills in Odiya and English will be preferred. Working language of Hindi will be added advantage.
9. Should be willing to travel extensively on field in all seasons. Should have two-wheeler along with valid driving license for mobility.
10. Candidates with proven experience on working and learning on their own will be preferred.
Age:
24-40 yrs age group will be preferred.
Compensation:
Salary offered is in the range of Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 35,000 per month. Salary negotiable based on skills and experience.

About The Project:
The project aims to brings Millets from Farms to Plates benefitting the farmers to grow better crops and receive just and efficient prices. The enterprises are set up through Self Help Groups that add to the value chain of the products. The idea of extending the goodness of millets and to increase access to the customers a fair representation is required. A model that brings the goodness of millets in the market in competition with big and trending brands and effective productization that meets the demand of the people in the space. To ideate and take the products developed by SHGs in that direction there is a requirement of a Manager in Product Developer and Brand Management.
Job Description:
1. Ideation of new products and packing designs for local, high value and export markets.
2. Development of strategies for brand identification.
3. Planning, Coordination and Management of the existing products in refurbished manner.
4. Regular field visits and monitoring of the SHGs help them to establish the standards to meet FICCI/other statutory norms.
5. Overseeing Capacity Building and CB Management marketing and enterprise team on brand and quality management.
6. Supporting and Handholding of legal compliances for millet outlets for their products.
7. Collection of Report on WSHG engaged under OMM (Processing and Value addition)
8. Liaisioning with IIP team and other stakeholders for standardizing packaging of the existing products and establishing/improving the packaging units of the WSHG under Odisha Millets Mission.
9. Coordination with all the concerned stakeholders for product profiling etc.
Desired Profile of the Candidate:
1. Should have full-time Master’s in Product Development and Management Course/Branding/Quality Management/Management/Relevant degree.
2. Should have at least 3 years of total experience and a minimum of 2 years of experience in agriculture products and marketing. Brand establishment during the previous experience is an added advantage.
3. Should have demonstrable experience of product development and portfolio.
4. Should have knowledge of Self-Help Groups and Farmer Producer Organization.
5. Should have a good understanding of food product development and building a marketable brand around it.
6. Should possess strong presentation and articulation skills (both verbal and written). The ability to speak fluently in English and Hindi is a must. Knowledge of Oriya will be an added advantage.
7. Should be willing to work out of Bhubaneswar or any other regional location.
8. Should be willing to work as per the Odisha holiday calendar. Should be willing to work on holidays and long hours as per the requirement of the project.
9. Should be very motivated and be a team player. Should be willing to be flexible with location and work timings. Has strong interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills and has experience of managing a multi-disciplinary team of professionals.
10. Should be willing to learn concepts and become skilled to meet organizational needs.
