WASSAN (Watershed Support Services and Activities Network), Hyderabad since 1999. WASSAN is a network-based organisation focusing on improving the quality of mainstream programs in natural resources management and livelihoods. It engages actively in policy advocacy initiatives at state and national level mainly related to rainfed agriculture. It also provides field level support services to a large number of watershed development and other programs implemented by the civil society in partnership with communities. Currently, WASSAN has around 300 employees spread in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha and Jharkhand.

Position Overview:
The Finance & Admin Officer will assist the line manager in establishing efficient administration and financial support functions for the project/s, ensuring smooth coordination with program stakeholders. This role includes providing administrative support and accounting services, along with financial management and coordination. The position will be responsible for handling administrative tasks, particularly related to logistics, vendor coordination, and settlements for programs such as workshops, training, and review meetings under ongoing projects and other initiatives.

Desired Candidate Profile :
● Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or a related field. A Master’s degree in relevant subjects or professional certification is preferred.

● Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in finance and administration roles, preferably in civil society or development sector.

● Software: Advanced knowledge of MS Office (particularly Excel). Proficiency in accounting software (Tally ERP, QuickBooks, etc.) is an advantage.

● Knowledge of Statutory Compliance: Familiarity with Indian tax laws, GST, TDS, Income Tax, and other compliance regulations.

● Languages: Excellent command of written and spoken Odia, English, and Hindi.

Job Description / Responsibilities:

1. Financial Management:
● Assist in the preparation of project budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
● Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
● Oversee fund requisitions and releases, ensuring compliance with WASSAN and donor SoPs and guidelines.
● Ensure timely audits and compliance with statutory requirements, including tax filings (TDS, GST) and financial policies.
● Keep detailed records of all project expenditures, ensuring they are within budget and appropriately documented.

2. Administrative Responsibilities:

● Manage day-to-day administrative operations, including procurement, inventory management, and maintenance of office infrastructure.
● Maintain proper filing of all financial, administrative, and human resource records, including contracts, receipts, and correspondence.
● Liaise with vendors and service providers, ensuring procurement procedures are followed and payments are processed in a timely manner.

3. Compliance & Policy Adherence:
● Ensure compliance with the organization’s financial and administrative policies and procedures.
● Handle statutory filings related to financial management and administration, ensuring adherence to all government regulations.
● Implement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard the organization’s assets and resources.

4. Coordination & Communication:
● Coordinate with internal teams, government officials, and CSO/CBO partners regarding project activities, finances, and administrative matters.
● Ensure the timely submission of financial and administrative reports to management and donors.

5. Logistics & Event Management:
● Organize and coordinate travel and accommodation for staff, project partners, and visitors.
● Assist in planning and budgeting for workshops, meetings, and field visits, managing logistics, and ensuring smooth execution.

DESIRED CANDIDATE PROFILE

● Must have Bachelor’s degree in Commerce/MBA Finance/M.Com/MFC/CA (Inter)/ICWAI (Inter).
● Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience is mandatory.
● CA (Inter)/ICWAI (Inter) will be preferred
● Be very energetic and must be willing to work extra hours and on holidays.
● Proficiency in using MS Office, particularly Excel and accounting software.
● Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
● Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially writing of the proceeding, Note Sheet and relevant drafting skills.
● Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
● Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
● Work experience in NGO/any development sector/Govt. sector or Govt. project will be preferred.
● Have experience of handling audits of projects, preparing balance sheets, so on and so forth.
● Not have any complaints against him by Government, Civil Society, Community organisations or Private agencies.

JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES

● Coordinate with and train the partner NGOs on the financial norms and compliances.
● Coordinate and manage program-related data and MIS for the project at district level.
● Verify the MPRs of NGOs involved in the project
● Carry out daily accounting tasks and ensure efficient payments and disbursements according to the organization’s policy.
● Ensuring timely payments of vendors, training partners, staff, resource persons, and other stakeholders.
● Prepare and process invoices, reports, and other financial documents.
● Support the administrative team by performing general office duties such as answering phone calls, maintaining stock records, and managing correspondence.
● Organize and maintain filing systems, both physical and electronic, ensuring documents are easily accessible.
● Collaborate with team members to ensure effective communication and coordination across the organization. Provide administrative support services as required and assigned.
● Deductions shall be applicable as per the organization’s norms and tax laws of the country.
● Age 23-38 years

● Proficiency in Telugu and English; knowledge of Gondi and Kollami is a bonus.
● Strong understanding of agricultural practices and natural resource management.

Associate Project Coordinator (GIS and MIS)

● Develop and maintain databases as per project-specific Management Information Systems (MIS).
● Ensure that the databases are structured and maintained for effective data retrieval and project tracking.
● Create and maintain dashboards for monitoring project performance and progress.
● Prepare monthly progress reports that align with the project deliverables.
● Populate and update project dashboards regularly, ensuring accurate data representation and timely reporting to stakeholders.

 

Preferred Skills:

● Expertise in GIS applications in urban contexts, with a focus on urban water management and infrastructure planning.
● Experience in developing and managing databases related to GIS and MIS.
● Proficiency in creating interactive and intuitive dashboards for data representation.
● Knowledge and practical experience in GIS applications specific to urban projects, especially in the context of water resources and infrastructure development.
